What is Output Device

In this post we will learn about Output Device? We all know that a computer is an electronic device, which works under the instructions or commands given by the user. Computer accepts the instructions, processes it and then outputs the result obtained. So any hardware device that receives the instructions processed by the computer, and displays them to the outside world, we call them "Output Devices". For example - monitor, printer, speaker and plotter etc.

Output devices are peripherals, which receive or display the output generated by the computer. Peripheral Devices means those computer hardware whose function is to provide input and output for the computer. For example, when we input data from an input device such as a keyboard, the processing related to it runs in the CPU, whatever result is received after data processing, an output device performs the task of displaying it to the user, e.g. - Monitor.

There are many types of Output devices.Some of them are listed below:

  1. Monitor
  2. Printer
  3. Projector
  4. Speaker 
  5. Plotter

They are also defined as such, Output devices are called hardware devices that receive data from the computer and convert it into human-readable form. So in simple words, Output Devices are those, which are used to extract or extract information from the computer. It is of many types, which include – Visual, Audio, Print and Data Output Device.
