Two important components of computer are hardware and software, without these two components it is impossible for the computer to run. Hardware in a computer is something that can be felt, touched and seen. Software, on the other hand, is a set of programs that we can observe, but that are not tangible. The purpose of hardware is to perform machine level tasks whereas software gives instructions to the hardware.
Hardware is the physical component of the computer, physical
component means that each component has its own structure and design. Software
is not a physical component of a computer, although the way each software works or process is different. But it has no physical appearance.
Hardware is built on a circuit board with many small and
large electronic components. Each component or device has its own specific
role. Software is created by small set of instructions which is called programs
which handles their own activities and give us the expected results.
In order to upgrade the hardware, it has to be replaced,
when it is defective. Replacement is the last option if it is not
repairable . The software can be upgraded without replacement. Software
replacement is required to download and use its latest version.
Keyboard, Mouse, Motherboard, RAM, Printer, Pen Drive, Hard
Disk Drive are all examples of hardware.
Browser, MS Window, Excel, Media Player, Operating System
are all examples of software.
