The working of computer is broadly classify into four steps to perform any task.
These steps are taking instructions from the user, processing it, storing the result and finally displaying the processed data to the user. These functions called as Input, Processing, Storage and Displaying Output. Through the diagram given below, you can understand the working of the computer.
Input: The instructions given by the user to the computer is called Input or simply the command input. The user uses the Input Device such as keyboard and mouse , etc to provides the input to the computer. Apart from this, data can also be entered in the system in many other ways such as online data.
Processing: In this step, the computer performs processing based on the data (instructions) given by the user. This task is carried out by CPU j.e the Central Processing Unit . The CPU performed operations on data inputted by the user and converts it into meaningful data , sometimes called information. CPU is generally called the brain of the computer since it is responsible for all the operations performed.
Output: After processing or operating instruction , the computer sends the results to the output device, so that it can be received by the user. The monitor is mainly used to as a display device for displaying the output. Whatever you do in the computer, you see it all on this display.
Storage: At this stage the user stores the results or processed input j.e output data or information in the computer for future use again.
